Strengthening Families for the Future is a 15-week family change program for families with a child aged 7 - 11.  Families will benefit through an increase in parenting skills, an increase in children's life skills and an improvement in family relations.  The whole family is invited for dinner, then, in sessions apart and together, they will learn to understand each other better, improve communication and find fresh approaches to old problems.  Free childcare and assistance with transportation are available.  Please click here for more information.  Please contact Amy McFadyen at 705-645-4426, ext 6268 to register.

Make the Connection 1-2 is a great opportunity to learn songs and rhymes, as well as new ways to connect with your toddler.  Learn about your toddler's growth and unique personality, meet new parents, share photos and relax over a healthy snack.  This popular series lasts 7 weeks and is always a favourite with families.  The program is free but registration is required.  Please click here for more information.  Unfortunately this program is full.  Please contact Carol at 705-645-3027 if you would like to be added to the wait list.

Seminars for Parents

Whether offered during the day or in the evening,

Whether offered with childcare or not,

Whether the format is Triple P, Make the Connection or Strengthening Families,

All workshops have a few things in common and each will provide an opportunity to:

  • Add some strategies to your parenting "toolbox"
  • Share and network with other parents
  • Discuss developmental stages, positive communication and discipline
  • Ask questions, share successes and discuss challenges
  • Learn about other local agencies that provide help and services for specific problems, for example:
"I think my child may need speech therapy, a hearing test, vision screening, etc"
